We had another doctors appointment this morning and she was eager to set an induction date since we are past due!! We had progressed to 2 cm dilated, but I forgot to ask how effaced I was. Either way, Tim and I will go in to Labor and Delivery on Wednesday night so they can start medication that will relax my uterus and thin my cervix. On Thursday morning my doctor will come in to break my water and start the pitocin. Contractions should start soon after and hopefully within a few hours, we'll be able to meet our sweet girl!
As you can imagine, Tim and I are EXTREMELY happy and relieved that we won't have to wait much longer. Tim keeps saying that now we have a date set, Lydia will probably decide to come on her own...and he's been saying from the very beginning how funny it would be if she came on April Fools Day. So he's certain that I will go into labor on my own on Wednesday, thwarting our scheduled induction and allowing Lydia her first "HaHa" for us. We shall see....
But YAY!!! We will officially be PARENTS on Thursday!

So Lydia...You're Due Today...
I guess in all the excitement of being pregnant and all the joys that come with it, we forgot to mention to Lydia that she was due on March 28th...silly us. For this reason, Mama has to do the following:

EVICTION NOTICE
Date: March 28, 2009
To: Miss Lydia Grace
To the above tenant in possession of below described premises:
I am issuing a 3 day notice for EVICTION. You will have 3 days in which you can either gather your belongings and promptly vacate the premises, or wait until the final day. After which, you will be physically removed from the property.
You are being evicted due to breech of contract and destruction of property. Expansions only to the FRONT of the house, within reasonable limits, were discussed. Not only have these limits been exceeded, but additions to the back of the house were also made!
Remodeling and gutting of the home was never approved, nor was changing the initial layout and base structure. And due to property damage, there are now leaks in both the upper AND lower levels of the home. On top of which, the landlord has received numerous complaints about nightly disturbances.
After 3 days from this day that you don't comply with the notice will result in immediate and forceful removal at my discretion.
Thank you for your cooperation
Love,
Mama

Update and Pictures
We're beginning to believe that we will never go in to labor. When we were around 20 weeks, Lydia was measuring for March 23rd, but our original due date was March 28th. Everyone kept telling Mama that there would be no way we could make it to the 23rd....but alas, here it is March 26th and we're still waiting. Mama has had several doctors appointments and there has been no progress. We're still sitting at 1 cm dilated and thick (meaning my cervix hasn't thinned out to allow passage for Lydia). The doctors have been talking about inducing, however we can't do it until Mama has dilated a little more and thinned out due to the higher risk of C-Section. We have another doctor's appointment on Monday (March 30th), so we're keeping our fingers crossed that we've progressed a little. We've even joked that maybe the air pressure change over the next few days will help us coax her out! With our luck, it will be Friday night in the middle of a tornado warning that we will be making our trek to the hospital.
Our sweet friends, Kari and Steve with Launchpad Creatives, came over a few weeks ago and took some great belly shots. Here are a few:

False Alarm
Mama and Daddy had their first (and hopefully last) false alarm Sunday night/Monday morning. We had spent the entire day finishing off our "To Do" list...installing car seats, washing all of Lydia's clothes, packing the hospital bag and diaper bag, and getting extra house keys made for the grandparents so that Otis isn't here all by himself. Around 9:30, mom finally laid down on the couch (the only comfortable spot in the house to sleep) to try to doze off, but Lydia was a bit active. By 10:00, Lydia was going crazy doing aerobics and this went on for about 45 minutes, during which time Mama had to go to the restroom about every 3-5 minutes.
Since this was all a bit odd, Mama decided to call the emergency nurse because she was worried that Lyds was in distress and that's what was causing her to move around so much. They immediately told Mama and Daddy to get everything packed in the car and head to Labor and Delivery...they wanted to make sure Mama's water wasn't breaking.
Surprisingly, Daddy and Mama were very calm! We got the car packed and started on our journey to St. Vincent's thinking we might be parents within the next 24 hours! We were very excited and very nervous at the same time. Daddy was mainly nervous about not doing 100 the whole way to the hospital, but amazingly he was able to keep it at 80!
When we got to the hospital, they took Mama to triage and ran a few tests. The first test indicated that Mama's water had not broken, but they wanted to do the test again a little later to make sure they didn't get a false negative. They hooked Mama and Lydia up to the monitors and Lydia's heartrate was perfect. It went up to the high 170s and then back down to the 130s, which the nurse said is exactly what they want to see, that it indicates a happy, healthy baby. The nurse surprised Mama when she pointed to the screen and showed where she was having contractions...Mama never even felt them!! So of course at this time we were thinking this was wonderful...we might be in labor and Mama couldn't feel her contractions!
The nurse did an internal exam on Mama and said that she was dilated only 1 cm and that her cervix was still pretty thick. Slowly, Mama and Daddy's hopes of becoming parents that night/morning were slowly deteriorating. The nurse told us that she did not think we were in labor and a later test showed again that my water was not breaking. Although I was having contractions, they were not consistent or strong.
Around 2:00 am, the nurse came back with the results of Mama's other test and it was found that she had the start of a urinary tract infection. The nurse explained that this may be the reason Mama was pottying so much and could also explain the contractions. Mama was given some medicine to help with the infection and we were sent on our way...a bit disappointed, but reassured that Lydia would be here soon enough.
Mama spent the day at home resting and trying to recoop from the late night. Daddy worked from home so that he could keep an eye on her. Otis seemed to like having them both at home.
As the nurse told us before we left, we might be back in Labor and Delivery tomorrow or two weeks from now. Lydia could make her arrival any day now and I guess last night served as a good practice run.

Busy, Busy, Busy!
We have been SO busy lately trying to get everything ready before Lydia makes her arrival!
We FINALLY have things hanging on the walls (YAY!!). Mama's awesome cousin, Kristi, made these beautiful letters to hang above the crib.
Mama will have to take more pictures of the nursery because we have the crib bedding on and it's soooo cute!
Daddy worked really hard putting together a wonderful closet for our sweet girl. She has the best closet, hands down, in our house. You can't tell from the pictures, but there are four places to hang clothes on the sides of the organizer. She has LOTS of space for new clothes!!

Mama's family had a shower for Lydia a few weeks ago and it was so great! Grandpa's cousin was gracious enough to allow us into her beautiful home for the event. Mama was overwhelmed with the outpouring of love everyone showed her little bambino.

Lydia received this gift from her Aunt Beckie. It's a onesie from Daddy's favorite band, Pearl Jam, AND it's purple and gold...LSU colors. Daddy's reaction to seeing it was priceless!

Mama's friends at work also had a shower for Lydia and it was a lot of fun! Thanks to Mama's
coworkers, we were able to purchase the travel system (car seat, carrier, and stroller)!! We were so amazed by everyone's generosity and love. This picture is of a quilt that Mama's friend Carissa made...isn't it amazing?! And since Daddy's got his LSU/Pearl Jam onesie, Mama got her Alabama quilt! It should be interesting to see which team Lydia decides to pull for. Hopefully she won't defy us all and pull for Auburn...or Ole Miss...or worse yet, TENNESSEE!!!!!!
Granny Mathis (again, we HAVE to get better names for the grandparents!) has better pictures of both showers, so when Mama gets them from her, she'll upload them.
That's all for now. Mama and Daddy are on their way to the doctor to see if Lydia is close to making her debut!!
