Been Away a While...

Wow! I can't believe it's been 10 months since we've posted updates about our sweet Lydia! A LOT has happened in that time...so let me get started:

We started eating solid foods around 4 months old! Her favorites were bananas and anything with oatmeal in it! I was making all of her food (stages 1 and 2) and I LOVED it! It was great knowing exactly what my baby was eating!

Also during this time she cut her first tooth. Immediately following her first, she cut 2 more teeth.

We took a family trip to Gulf Shores at the end of summer and had a blast! Tim's mom and her sisters got together and Lydia, Tim, and I joined them. Lydia wasn't sure how she felt about the ocean, but in the end she had fun. We were surprised how much she enjoyed the
pool!

Fall of '09 brought football and Halloween. Tim and I are currently trying to get her to pull for our teams and I hate to admit that she looks really cute in purple! Thankfully, she doesn't own too many LSU outfits as of yet.

Miss Lee (Lydia's daycare teacher) took these photos of Lydia in her Nemo Halloween costume.

Christmas was more fun than I could ever put into words! I think the pictures tell the whole story:

First Birthday!!
Lydia's first birthday was a lot of fun. We did it in the theme of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed getting everything together for the party! I hand-made all the invitations that looked like caterpillars. We made caterpillar balloons for decorations and made the serving table look like a picnic area by having astro turf as the table cloth. The food was all picnic themed as well!

Elysa's 2nd Birthday!
My cousin's, Neil, daughter, Elysa, had her 2nd birthday the weekend of Memorial Day. We helped her celebrate by going to her party at the Splash Pad in Gardendale. This was our first time to go there and we had a lot of fun!

Swim Lessons!
We joined the YMCA near our home recently and decided to sign Lydia up for swim lessons. The sessions are 4 days a week for 2 weeks and so far, we couldn't be more pleased! We feel that Lydia has gotten more comfortable in the water, which is exactly what we wanted!

Aldridge Gardens
Lydia and I met up with my friend, Carissa and her son, Owen at Aldridge Gardens in Hoover to play with our new cameras. I think we got a lot of really good shots of the kids!

Zoo 6-12-10
We became members of the Birmingham Zoo this weekend and spent a little time looking at the animals. Lydia is hilarious and calls everything a "kitty kitty". Needless to say, she really enjoyed looking at the lions and tigers as well as everything in the predator exhibit. While it was REALLY hot on Saturday and cut our trip short, we plan on going again this week...just a little earlier in the morning!
